Barclays Bank Tanzania Limited

The sponsorship will enable the girls from
underprivileged background to receive vocational training at VETA Centers which
will contribute towards improving their opportunities for developing Livelihoods
and employment skills. The funding covers tuition fees,
accommodation at VETA centers, and prescribed books and other learning
materials.
Speaking during the event, the bank’s Head
of Marketing and Corporate Relations, Mr. Aron Luhanga said, “Barclays is committed to volunteer,
engage and play part in giving back to the community with aim of upskilling and
empowering youth. As a pan-African bank, we manage all our Citizenship initiatives in alignment with our purpose
of bringing possibilities to life.
Citizenship for us is a strategic centre
of excellence that develops the business socio-economic strategy with a
commitment to play a shaping role in society by becoming an “active force for
good”.
Cementing more on the
sponsorship, the bank’s Corporate Director, Mr. Brian Kalero said that the
partnership with VETA has been generated from a business relationship the bank
has with Pact Tanzania.
Commending the bank for its
support, Pact’s Country Director, Ms. Mariana Balampama, said “It’s only
through integrated efforts and partnerships such as these that we are going to
bring sustainable impact that will benefit Tanzania for generations to come.
Our work in Tanzania focuses on improving the lives of orphans and vulnerable
children and this support from Barclays Bank goes a long way in helping us achieve
what we have set out. We envision a Tanzania where communities are heard,
capable and vibrant.”
In concluding, Mr. Luhanga gave
assurance that as a bank, Barclays will continue to cement their commitment to
making a positive impact in the society in which they serve by advocating
change. “We’re
all about bringing possibilities to life as we support initiatives that help
upskill, empower people and play part to change lives, and solve communities’
challenges”, he said.
