A Tanzania doctor receives International Award

A renowned Tanzania doctor, Pro. Kaushik Ramaiya, has won an international award in recognition of his profound contribution to the improvement of public health in the country and across the globe.

“In fact, we are delighted to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Pro. Kaushik Ramaiya, for receiving the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award 2025….this testifies his commitment and dedication to community health care,” noted an official statement issued by The Board of Directors of Private Health Facilities in Tanzania (APHFTA).

 

Speaking to reporters yesterday, APHFTA Vice-Chairman, Mahmoud Mringo, said “We are so proud of the Pro. Kaushik achievements....it’s a victory for himself, members of the health and related sectors and respect for Tanzania as a country.”

 

Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award 2025 is an international and highly prestigious award, usually given by the Government of India to overseas Indians, recognising their outstanding contributions to their respective fields and their role in strengthening the bond between India and the global community.

 

Prof Kaushik received the distinguished award from Her Excellency, the Honourable President of India, during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. This recognition celebrates Prof Kaushik’s extraordinary achievements in healthcare, his ground-breaking contributions to improving public health, and his relentless efforts in fostering international collaboration.

 

As a vital member of the global healthcare community, Prof Kaushik has demonstrated unparalleled commitment to the betterment of healthcare systems, not only in Tanzania, but also in many other regions around the world, according to APHFTA Vice-President.

 

“His innovative vision, dedication to professional excellence, and compassionate service have positively impacted countless lives and inspired others to strive for excellence,” he added.

 

“As APHFTA, we take immense pride in being associated with such an illustrious personality, whose work resonates with our mission of improving the quality of health services in Tanzania. Prof Kaushik’s accomplishments and recognition serve as a testament to the power of cross-border collaboration and the importance of innovation in driving positive change in healthcare.

 

Dr. Rachael Nungu, Programme Manager of the Tanzania Diabetes Association (TDA), has expressed profound gratitude to Prof Kaushik Ramaiya for his remarkable contributions to society, adding that “his recognition at the global stage is a moment of pride not only in TDA and APHFTA, but also in all those committed to advancing healthcare worldwide.”

 

Speaking briefly to journalists upon his arrival at the airport, Pro. Kaushik, a long-term expert in non-communicable diseases, extended appreciation to his patients, health sector stakeholders, the government and the general community for their support to his work that won international recognition.

 

Pro. Kaushik, who has worked for over 40 years, appealed doctors and other experts in the country to keep on working hard and serve those in need, saying “their efforts and commitment to the needy communities would be rewarded by the Almighty one day.”

 

In its official statement circulated to the media yesterday, the Ministry of Health, extended congratulations to the Pro. Kaushik for being coffered with the international Privas Bharatiya Samman Award 2025, noting that “this is a clear testimony that his work is being recognized, not only in Tanzania but also internationally.”
